Service Description and Cost

Core service support for members of the Roots IT Support System.  There is a flat fee of $66.29/user/month ($795.47/user/year) to maintain network services with helpdesk support for one user account.

Services include:

  • Network account
  • Email with 1GB storage quota (billed by Information Services directly to unit)
  • Workstation security and application updates
  • Network directory with 15GB storage quota (single use)
  • Nightly network directory backup with 60 days of data retention
  • Support for networked PC/Mac/Linux desktop/laptop systems
  • Support for one mobile device (iOS based, Android based, etc)
  • Rapid assistance with problems related to hardware, software, and network
  • Queued assistance and follow-up with larger hardware, software, and network problems
  • Purchase assistance and consultation
  • Software access
    • Operating system installation and support (MS Windows, OS/X, *nix)
    • Microsoft Office installation and support
    • Antivirus
    • Facilitating bulk licenses and shared access to specialized software
  • Printing
    • Networked printer access with shared departmental queue
    • Large format: 2 glossy prints per lab per year.  Additional extra.
  • Access to collaborative tools
    • Adobe Connect
    • Video conferencing systems
  • Special project consultation and training

Core service support for lab groups

  • Lab network directory with 20GB storage quota (multiple users)
  • Nightly network directory backup with 60 days of data retention
  • Support for three lab PC/Mac desktops

Off-Campus Support

This category is for users that are members of the supported departments but do their work 100% off-campus.  This does not include users that rely on our desktop support.

    • $7.00/sq. ft glossy
    • $6.50/sq. ft draft prints
Specialized software License cost is the responsibility of requestor
Special projects

    • Desktop support for systems covered by network only fee 
$60/hour/1 hour minimum

May also be negotiated on a project, rather than hourly basis
